To Brothers and Sisters,

At 14:28 of May 5, 2008, an earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale hit Wenchuan and other regions in Sichuan Province . The massive earthquake has caused huge human death and financial loss. Up till today, the death toll has been over 60,000. More than 300, 000 people have been injured. Hundreds of thousands of houses collapsed or were damaged. After the earthquake, many church buildings in that area have razed to the ground and some are dilapidated.

Soon after the earthquake occurred, the Chinese government gave quick response to the emergency. More than 100,000 PLA soldiers, police, firemen, medical worker, emergency squad and volunteers have gone deeply into the disaster stricken area to save the life of those who are stuck in trouble. People all around China donate generously to help the local people. A number of overseas organizations and individuals have donated money and necessities to the disaster stricken area. Hereby, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude in Christ to those churches and individuals which have expressed their will to convey their solicitude and condolence through CCC/TSPM.

CCC/TSPM has appealed all Christians in China to pray for our compatriots who are suffering and call them to donate money to share the love of Jesus. Our appeal has been warmly responded by the churches all around. We believe that through our contributions and care to the compatriots in the disaster stricken area, the Holy name of Christ will be upheld and spread widely.

The disaster relief is still going on. Our love is being passed on. We sincerely ask for support and prayer from churches and Christians both at home and abroad so that Jesus' love will be shared by more people. We pray for God's blessings.
